Bluenose Well Drilling Ltd was started more than 30 years ago by Ralph Jacobs and his wife Marilyn out of their home in Mineville, Nova Scotia. The business was started with one drill rig. Business was slow at first; however, as Ralph became known in the community for his excellent work ethic and generosity, things became much busier.
Ralph hired his brother Byron Jacobs a few years after opening Bluenose Well Drilling Ltd and added a service truck for pump installations and service work on pumps and wells.
Larry Jacobs (Ralph’s son) went to Flemming College in Ontario and took his water well drilling course in 2000 and has been with the company ever since.
The home-based business moved from Mineville, Nova Scotia, to 2371 Lawrencetown Rd, Lawrencetown, in 2000 when a commercial building was purchased. The company now has two drill rigs, service/water truck, an old fire truck for cleaning wells and a cube van for pump installations and service work.
Bluenose Well Drilling Ltd has grown over the past 30 years and now has 6 full-time employees. The family-owned business is something to be proud of; with a lot of hard work the small company that started many years ago is now a known well drilling business in the local community as well as HRM and beyond.
We take pride in our work and always do the job to the best of our ability. With the support of our local communities, Bluenose Well Drilling Ltd will be around for many more years to come. Our reputation speaks for itself.
